The Northeastern Lab for Inclusive Entrepreneurship is dedicated to helping a wide range of diverse small businesses grow and prosper.
A frequently referenced report from the U.S. Small Business Administration in 2019 revealed that small companies generate 1.5 million jobs a year and account for 64% of new jobs in America. Small businesses also contribute 44% of the U.S. economic activity, and as the number of new businesses grows so does their economic contributions. In short, small businesses (like yours) provide local economies with new jobs, products, revenue, services and more.

Our student teams, under the guidance of faculty experts, offer assistance in addressing various business challenges. The Lab has sponsored more than 60 managerial assistance projects since 2021.

However, the complexity and confusion surrounding this marketplace can pose significant challenges. Recognizing the need for clarity, The Lab has undertaken comprehensive research to identify both the barriers and opportunities within this dynamic market.
In response to our findings, we are excited to introduce an innovative solution—an online, on-demand module crafted to empower small business owners. This module is specifically designed to provide the essential knowledge and tools required to navigate, compete, and thrive in the higher education market.

Is the time right for you to invest in your professional growth in order to take your company to the next level?
Supported by a five-year grant from the Economic Development Administration, we have developed a unique learning opportunity for small business owners from Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
Fellows address their key business challenges through online workshops, mentoring networks, and access to the entrepreneurial resources at Northeastern University. The program is primarily
online, with some in-person activities on the Northeastern University – Boston Campus. There is no cost to participate in the fellowship program.
Applications for the 2024 cohort are closed. Starting in September 2025, we will be accepting applications for the upcoming cohort of Fellows.
